It’s all about foundation.
There are many different ways to experience happiness. But some are more temporary than others. Some will quickly shift to stress and grief when we’re faced with trials and tribulations.
And Jesus said that we would be faced with trials and tribulations, that we would be shaken.
If your happiness is built on the right foundation, a solid foundation, then it’s going to endure any and all shaking.
If it’s based upon a flimsy foundation, then happiness is fleeting, and stress quickly overwhelms it.
The great plague of our modern era is stress. And once their flimsy foundation for happiness collapses and they are overwhelmed by stress, most people only make matters worse by turning to pill, rather than to God.
But while a pill might alleviate the symptoms of stress, it’s not a cure. No pill can put back on the path to enduring happiness.
So, what is the right foundation for true, lasting happiness?
First, consider that to have a foundation in something, you need to first know it intimately, to be sure of and confident in it.
If you’re not, then it’s not your foundation.
The same is true of your relationship with God.
Are you sure of and confident in God’s goodness?
