“You don’t need all ‘A’ players to win.”
A constant challenge for leaders is not only securing the best players for the team, but helping less talented players exceed expectations. Few organizations attract all ‘A’ players. Great leaders know how to blend ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ team members. Regardless of skill level, every person on your team is just like you. They have hopes and dreams. Most have families that depend on them. Everyone laughs, gets disappointed, and feels like a failure at times. The sooner you learn what makes a person laugh, hurt inside, and feel inferior, the sooner you stop being a boss and earn the right to be their leader. Without a great ‘B’ and ‘C’ supporting cast, ‘A’ players soon lose their shine, the team stops winning, and your leadership is in doubt.
