TRUTH #1: “MONEY IS A TOOL”
In Luke 12:16-21, Jesus tells us a profound story: “The land of a rich man was very productive. And he began reasoning to himself:
“‘I will tear down my barns and build larger ones to store all goods. Then I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.’”
“But God interrupted him, saying, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’”
Wow! God actually called the rich man a FOOL!
What was the guy’s problem? Jesus didn’t say he was a crook or a swindler. However, the Lord said he was a FOOL who selfishly “stored up treasure for himself, and was not rich toward God.” So interesting The Lord only called someone a Fool concerning the use of riches!
NEVER MAKE MONEY YOUR LIFE GOAL.
Money is a tool that needs be used for a higher purpose.
Each one of us has to fulfill a Divine Plan that very often requires financial funding.
Let me encourage you by giving you a positive example of one of many favorite characters in the New Testament—Joseph of Arimathea.
Matthew 27:54-58 explains that Joseph was a well-connected rich man, who had become a disciple of Jesus. He asked Pilate for the body of the Messiah following His Crucifixion—and his request was granted.
Imagine having the influence, power and position to walk into Pilate’s office and ask for the body of Jesus during the chaotic events of the Crucifixion!
I strongly believe that Father God sends His Blessings and directions to men and women who use their wealth and influence for Kingdom purposes at the crossroads and critical events in history.
Father God wants some of you to be disciples like Joseph—rich, shrewd and courageous to do ‘His business.’ He looks for those willing to be bold enough to accomplish His will and tasks in difficult situations.
REMEMBER:
GOD GIVES PROSPERITY WITH A PURPOSE.
By using his money and influence as a tool, Joseph fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy regarding Jesus: “His grave was assigned to be with wicked men, but He was in a rich man’s tomb at His death” (Isaiah 53:9).
And just imagine: Jesus rose from the dead in Joseph’s garden!
MEDITATE ON THIS QUESTION:
• Is money my life goal? Or is it a tool that I use to accomplish my God-given purpose
