Our journey leads us down a narrow path. It can be hard to get excited about that, because it’s all about God’s way, and not ours. But let me illustrate the value of this narrow path.
Let’s imagine a butterfly. In order for a new butterfly to live, it’s got to escape from this cocoon that has it bound up. So the butterfly makes a small hole and then forces itself through this crushing narrow opening. But that process of squeezing and crushing forces the blood flow into his beautiful new wings.
The narrow path is necessary. Even though it’s a hard start, and many give up already at that point, our butterfly would die without taking the narrow path. He’d never have any chance of reaching his joyful destiny.
As we continue on the narrow path, know that it is full of adventure and excitement, but also many disappointments. But out of those disappointments is born success. We must also come to realize that the abundance God provides us through this process, the “success” for which we are reaching, is really a loan. Yes, it’s for our good, but it’s for His glory.

Be encouraged that God is a rewarder of those who seek Him. So stay on this narrow path. For me, it starts every morning. It’s a constant struggle between my way and His way. But I want my life to be for His glory, and then I know it will turn out for my good.
And now we get to the cost. And it really is very simple. Seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these other things will be added unto you. Sure, it can be difficult at times, but it’s also worth it.
